Approved by SDSC Executive Director on November 4, 2004
In order to safeguard user accounts and computer systems at SDSC it is sometimes necessary, in emergency situations, to inspect and monitor electronic communications activity on the network or on a computer system. Only the SDSC Director, SDSC Executive Director or the Manager of Security Technologies can authorize the inspection, monitoring or disclosure of electronic communications under emergency circumstances as described in the University of California Electronic Communications Policy (http://www.ucop.edu/ucophome/policies/ec/). Implementation of the inspection, monitoring and disclosure is to be performed by the Manager of Security Technologies or his designate.
